Summer Vacation 2015...so far!

We are halfway through June...I cannot believe summer is 1/4 of the way over!! It goes way too quickly. Wish we had more time to spend together, nonscheduled, lazy days, but since we don't we make the most of what we do have. 

So far our summer has been packed with action. We started our summer break with a trip to the park. It actually wasn't too hot, and the girls loved running around and climbing. 

The next day Augusta and I put our pool mbership to good use and visited the Swim Place for our first time this summer. Augusta had a blast swimming in her puddle jumper; she loved how it made her float! She also liked playing in the baby pool! 

Our first weekend in June was spent with more pool time, both at home and at Mims and Pa-Paul's house. The girls love playing in their plastic baby pools. Especially these versions that have the slide. It's always a fun way to get outside and still stay cool in this Mississippi heat. 

The next week was a crazy busy one. Not only did Aunt Lys and Uncle Brad come to visit (They actually came the weekend before, but aunt Lys was still here for the week) but it was also vacation bible school week! 

We had so much fun at VBS. And it completely wore us out!! We had to get the routine down, and for Augusta there was learning to share Mommy, but she did great. And even though she said the more structured, quiet times weren't her favorite--watching videos and bible story plays--she was still attentive, for the most part. She also still sings her songs she learned. And even though she wasn't so keen on it at her actual VBS performance, she loves performing the songs for family now. 

Thursday during VBS week, Augusta and her cousins, Maddie and Lani, took part in another fun activity. It was a cupcake decorating contest at Holli's Sweet Tooth! Both girls had a ball! Augusta decorated her cupcake with mini M&Ms and Smooth and Melties. She was so proud of it. Maddie ended up winning the contest--happy for our Mads! 

Last Saturday we got to try out the new bowling alley, it was a blast. And so fun to take Augusta since she's been wanting to go since we told her it was opening in February. We went with the original baseball family crew and everyone has so much fun. Augusta now even says she's the best bowler ever! 

This week has been with lots of time at home and getting things ready for Father's Day this weekend. Chase has had baseball camp so we've had plenty of time to get things done while he's there. We can't wait to surprise him this weekend!

Baseball Season 2015

Baseball season this year was something else. First off, it was so much fun because the girls loved going to games. They didn't so much watch as they played with their friends though. :) But still game night was always the best night of the week. Even if it resulted in us being extra tired, we wouldn't trade the baseball life. 

The season started with a Charger win, and they kept on winning. They went on to win first in their division--division 2-A. Undefeated at this point. Pure awesomeness! 

The wins kept coming, up until the north half playoff round. Oxford got their first loss from the New Hope Trojans. We'd already beaten them 4 times, so going for 5-0 was pushing it. But it still didn't lessen the sting. But that couldn't hold the Chargers back. 

What did lessen the sting though was facing off against New Hope one last time at home and winning. This sealed the Chargers' trip to the state championship!! We were so proud of our Dada and Chargers! 

Then came the state championship games. (We watched from a suite provided by player parents--a million thank-you'd for that!) Oxford shut out George County, not once,  but twice!! Our Chargers became the 2015 5A State Champs!! 

Such a deserved win for the players and coaches. And a great way to end their fairytale year. We are still so proud!! State Champs with a record or 35-1. Way to go Chargers--now let's do it again next season!! 

From the mouths of babes...

So there's this questionnaire going around facebook right now that parents are giving to their children. Well I cannot resist giving my child any type of survey, or asking her questions and recording the answers--the answers are just too priceless! (We do a survey about Daddy every year on his bday). But since I'm not the kind to post things like this on facebook, here is Augusta's questionnaire. We'll call it, "All about Mommy." (Directions included).

Such a sweet and sassy little! Love this little girl so much!! 

Calla at 14 months!

Doing an update on baby girl since she's has a few notable changes since her first birthday. And besides, anyone who doesn't want more Calla Jane in their life is pretty crazy!! 

Calla is on her way to having 10 teeth! She's got four across the front on top, two at the front in the bottom, two top one-year molars, and she's working on cutting her bottom one-year molars! (Bottom right has come in, bottom left has broken skin but not completely in) She has the cutest toothy grin--love!! 

She is also turned into a compete snugglebunny! Not that she wasn't before, but its at a whole new level. When you pick her up, she automatically curls in and rests her head on your shoulder--heart melted! She also loves to give big kisses and makes a smacking noise when she does. When your sitting on the floor, she automatically flops into your lap. And when your squatted and she wants you to stand with her, she'll nestle in on your shoulder. Complete sweetheart!! 

Another funny trait she has picked up is wanting to be just like big sister. She pretty much thinks she's as big as Augusta and that she can do anything her big sis does. If Augusta is spinning (spinning queen here), Calla is spinning. If Augustavis eating, she wants whatever she has. And if she's feeding herself, you can bet Calla will be too. Climbing on the furniture like sissy...check. Drinking from big girl cups...double check. Trying daredevil things I warn Augusta not to do...triple check. I've got my work cut out for me. 

And on the train of thought if sisters, it has been so much fun lately to really see them interact. Calla's little personality is coming out and she won't let Augustaget away with running the show anymore. She does follow her around and want to be into whatever Augusta has. But she also doesn't like Augusta trying to take things from her or keep her out of things. They love to chase each other--they get the giggles while doing it and it just warms your heart. They also love to cuddle and snuggle each other. I hope this love they have for one another only grows! 

Along with her personality coming out, Calla has become more vocal and interactive. She requests her "Ba-ba" every mornings. She waves "hi" and "bye" and uses those words consistently. She drags you to food and babbles all about it. She also babble-whines when she gets hurt or Augusta does something (Telling on her). She requests "mama or mommy" and "dada or daddy" (uses both names). She also loves and requests her "babies."

Babydolls are definitely Calla's favorite toys. She loves to snuggle them. She'll tuck them under a blanket. And she even feeds them bottles, or from a utensil. She tucks them under her arm and carries them almost everywhere she goes--even to bed some nights. She loves to give them "love" (hugs and kisses). 

She also loves to do and motions/dance to songs. Two favorites are "happy and you know it" and "God loves me". She dances (spins), stomps, and does motions at the correct times. It's precious!! 

Calla it's so much fun to see you grow and change and watch you become "you". We love you baby bug!! 

Augustaisms Round 2 of 2015

Back with more of the precious things Augusta Kate says that I never want to forget! Love this little something fierce! 

Me: "Thank you love muffin."

Augusta: "You're welcome love doughnut."

"I drunk a lot of orange juice today. Not a bunch, just a lot."

"there's hills on my jacket." (When jacket zipper bumps up)

Me: "That doesn't make sense."

Augusta:"Yes, it makes my sense!"

"Sparkly and shine are my things!" 

Augusta: "Momma, will you wear that blue and orange shirt when it's spring?"

Me: "Sure. You love that shirt, don't you?"

Augusta: "Yes, bc blue and orange are so my colors. Green is not my color, I'm like Jewel." 

Augusta to Chase: "We have the best tickle fights ever!"

"Sometimes teachers can't see without their glasses."

"No! You can't like the ones I like because that's not part of life!"

She calls cupcake toppings "accessories" 

"Take a picture of me jumpin and tootin!"

"Mama, when you were little I had to be the mom."

Augusta: "ploot. Ploot."

Me: "what is ploot?"

Augusta: "It means I love you in Spanish."

Momma, my daddy's like a giant.

Character on TV: "Wheres the "l"?"

Augusta: "It's right there. You're not looking very hard, Alphapig."

"Momma can you stop singing in that voice because it's hurting my ears."

"I'm super smart bc I have pajama power!"

 

"I wonder what construction site people are building houses out of? Straw? Or bricks? Or sticks?"

Augusta to one of our friends: "I like your watch. It looks cheap."

"Momma I don't wanna see him(the Easter Bunny). I just wanna do one selfie and that's it."

Me: "what's a selfie?"

Augusta: "A picture of you, me, and Calla."

"No, I don't wanna do pigtails because they're so expensive!"

"I don't wanna be in there with those butterflies bc they might pull my hair out."

During a thunderstorm in s completely calm voice. "Momma, I'm scared. But I need some more thunder, cause I'm still scared."

Augusta: "When will I be 100?"

Me:"97 years."

Augusta: "I'm so excited to be 100!"

While playing catch..."This is fun. I'm gonna be a sport one day."

"I don't want to be an astronaut. I don't want to go in outer space because there's no potties in outer space."

Gammie and Augusta pretending they're on a camp out...Gammie:"We have to tell scary stories because that's what you do on a campout."

Augusta: "Okay..." (Unsure)

Gammie: "Three people were out camping, and they saw a cave. They went inside the cave and heard a loud noise. And then they saw a bear..."

Augusta: (interjects) "And it was a Care Bear, the end."

Calla's First Birthday Party

We had Calla's first birthday party on March 22. The Sunday after her actual birthday (which was Saturday). The theme of the party was "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." I got crafty--thanks pinterest--and made a few little decorations. (Nothing to stress myself out!) But I have to say I think it's the cutest birthday theme I've ever done--completely loved it!! 

We had a caterpillar "Watch me Grow" display. A caterpillar on her high chair. And a caterpillar spelling out her name on the cake table. Calla had an appliquéd caterpillar onesie. We also had a smash cake and cupcakes in the shape of a caterpillar. The rest of the decor stuck with the color theme--red, green, and yellow. 

Friends and family gathered to help us celebrate. All of Calla's grandparents, aunts, uncles, and first cousins were there. The kids had a great time playing. The highlight was definitely Calla digging into her smash cake--girl is an eater and she loved it! 

She wasn't too into her presents. She'd pull out some paper, then hand it to you and be done. Mommy helped her open. And then Augusta and Maddie assisted as well. Her favorite things she opened that day were her babydolls. She also loved the water table we got her--though we didn't try it out till much later! 

The mark of a good party is when everyone crashes afterwards. And guess what? That's exactly what the Goolsby's did! Hope you had fun little one--it was a great first birthday celebrating one of our favorite little girls!
