Little Moments

This momma has been dragging to put it mildly--think it's a sinus infection, but pregnant girl is powering through!

Well yesterday I was in the wal-mart parking lot, determined to go in and get some medicine. I had my sound on my phone turned on (rarity for me) and I was going to take a picture of my safe medications list instead of bringing the whole thing in with me. Well when the shutter clicked, Augusta heard it and automatically said "Cheese Momma!" I turned around and this is what I captured!

So yesterday we went to the doctor to have our anatomy scan done for baby #2, and guess what? We are having another little girl! So excited Augusta will have a sister to share things with and that they'll grow up together so close in age. Hopefully they'll be the best of friends! :)

While we were having our ultrasound done, (before we knew the gender), the ultrasound tech kept referring to the baby as a "she". I noticed this, but thought maybe it was just a preference thing, so as not to call the baby "it." My husband noticed as well and he finally asked the tech if it was a girl. She was shocked we didn't already know bc she said it had girl written in my file. Weird, because I've only had the one other ultrasound at 9wks. But we figured it must've been in there referring to Augusta. But she checked and it was definitely a she! No boy parts down there! 

All the baby's measurements looked great. She was right on target! Her heart rate was strong at 145. The tech did day she was stubborn, though. Baby girl was so cozy on her belly that she didn't wanna move and give her the shots she needed, but she finally did right when we were about to be done! She's estimated to be about 8 oz right now--so teeny! 

She was also sucking her thumb, which was sweet! Augusta wasn't a paci or a thumb sucker so this may be a whole new ball game! She also finally turned enough for us to get a precious profile shot! We didn't get a clear one with Augusta at her anatomy scan, so that was super exciting! 

They did have to note the placenta seemed to still be covering my cervix and hadn't moved up yet. This could be to the uterus still growing. They said it was nothing to worry about but could affect delivery and doctor would check position again before that. If it's something that could cause us to have an otherwise unnecessary c-section, please pray it moves to the position it belongs in. 

Doctor Harper was called to the hospital and wasn't able to see patients yesterday, so I should be getting a phone call from her about our next appointment and to go over all the baby's details. 

Excited for our new baby girl to join the family! Now to think of names for our little bundle! :)

**Edit: Since I took so long to post this, here is the update since my talking to Dr. Harper. She gave baby girl an A+, saying she looked totally perfect and confirmed what the ultrasound tech said about all organs functioning as they should be! She mentioned the placenta placement, but wasn't concerned about it right now. She said they'd do another ultrasound at 28 wks after the uterus has had more time to grow--with the growth and stretching, the part where the placenta has attached should move away from my cervix. Let's keep praying it does!

Finally!!

Well this past Tuesday we finally closed on our house, so we are officially home owners! Yay! 

Our well water sample came back Monday and it was clear, so that gave us the go ahead to get everything done! We are so beyond excited!! 

We're unpacking and starting to get settled into our new home, or as Augusta calls it, "Baby's house." :) So life is finally starting to come together in that aspect! 

Now just to get all the little things done, like buying blinds, setting up TV/Internet, going through things as we unpack (what to keep and what to part with), and just finding a new place for everything. It's going to be a process--hopefully one that's not too long. But we are so blessed to finally be here and completing this chapter in our lives!

Fall Festivities!

Yesterday we took Augusta to the pumpkin patch at a local church. This is becoming a yearly tradition that I definitely look forward to! I think it's safe to say that Augusta does too!!

We had talked about going to the pumpkin patch the day before. When we got up Monday morning, I asked her if she remembered where we were going today. She smiled brightly at me and answered "punkey patch!" (Her adorable way of saying "pumpkin patch") The whole day, while we were running errands or I put in her shoes to go outside, it was "going punkey patch!"

We finally made it yesterday afternoon. Augusta's face lit up when she saw the pumpkins. She immediately went to one of the smallest ones and claimed it as her own.

We then did the customary pumpkin photo shoot. She liked exploring between and around the pumpkins for the most part. She wasn't interested in picking a big pumpkin, so that was all on me and Chase. She did set her sights on another small pumpkin--and cried for it, so of course we ended up with that one! (It was actually pretty funny, she refused to take any more pictures till she had it, so she's pointing and I'm grabbing every pumpkin and she's saying "no that punkey" and pointing! There are like 50 pumpkins where she's pointing! Finally I tell her to get it, which she does, and goes back to take more photos!)

And I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I have to get it out there! We were supposed to close on our house yesterday, but our well water sample came back with contaminants in it--AGAIN!! 

This is the second time this has happened! We were supposed to close the week of the 7th, but our first well water sample came back with contaminants. We treated the water and had it retested...well, we got the results of that sample back and guess what? The same contaminant, only in a lesser form. So treating it again and hopefully the third time testing will be the charm! Results should be in by the 21st and I hope next week you will see a closing post from me!! 

It's just we didn't even know we needed this sample. If we had known, it would've been done much sooner. And if the sample had been contaminated then, we could've been fixing it while our house was still being built. I mean, the well was the first thing that was done--period!! 

It's just so hard right here at the end having this one hold up. And it's not something that we do and can close the next day--it takes days to get the sample analyzed and the results back! We've just been transient--living with both sets of parents--since the end of July! We are ready for some stability and not living out of suitcases and boxes! 

Let me just finish this by saying, I'm so thankful that this is my greatest problem in life. I'm blessed that all I'm dealing with is waiting on a water sample, while others are going through true trials. But I know God has his plan, and there's a reason (or multiple reasons) our move in keeps being delayed. So though I'm praying for clean water and to move in as quickly as possible, I'm thankful for the lesson in dealing with things that are out of my control. And also in patience. I'm also beyond thankful for our parents and their hospitality! Without them, I don't know what we would've done! I'm loving all the time all of us have spent together, just hoping we haven't displaced them too badly! Here's hoping we can make it up to them with a fabulous dinner in our new home next week! ;) 

Baby Goolsby Update

So I've been a busy mommy and haven't had time to sit and write a post about what's going on with this new little one! Well here goes my recap! 

On September 25, I went to the doctor to check on our little jelly bean. Mommy hadn't gained any weight to date and bp was good. I got to hear baby's heartbeat on the Doppler. It was steady in the 150s!  Yay!! Being so small still, it took a minute to locate, but once we did the heartbeat came through loud and strong. We schedule my next appointment for October 23. This will be our anatomy scan and we'll find out if this baby us a little boy or a little girl! Cannot wait! 

Currently we are 16, almost 17 (tomorrow) weeks into this pregnancy. According to those websites that compare babies to fruits--he/she is somewhere between the size of an avocado and a turnip. Meaning they are probably about 4 1/2 to 5 inches from crown to rump. And probably weigh about 3 1/2 to 5 ounces. Next week at 18 weeks we'll compare the ultrasound measurements to online stats and see how they stack up!

The other big news I do have to report is that I have been feeling little kicks! This is so much earlier than I felt Augusta moving, but I think I just know what  feeling this time around. These kicks gave been strong too! Towards the end of the week I was actually able to feel them from the outside with my hand--not just internal movement! This is a strong little one we have in there--and I'm so thankful for that! So far no one else has felt the movement, but hopefully it won't be too long! :) 

Most Magical Place on Earth

About a week ago we rejoined reality. Previously, we had been at the happiest place on earth enjoying all it's magic and charms. If you guessed we were at Disney World, you would be correct! It was a wonderful family vacation filled with memories I will always cherish!

Augusta loves exploring Disney with her two cousins! She loved the rides, but most of all she loved the characters! She would hug and kiss them on their noses, which was just too cute for words! She wasn't too into the "real people" characters (ex. Sleeping Beauty). The only one she really connected with was Tinkerbell. Could be bc we're big tink fans, or could be bc the tink we met was fabulous!

Augusta's first park was Animal Kingdom and her first ride was the Triceratops Spin. (Technically her first ride was Kilimanjaro Safaru, but if don't think that felt much like a ride to her since we were on a bus) After the triceratops spin, Augusta burst into tears saying "Again, Again". She didn't understand why it stopped and why we had to get off! Luckily, we were able to get right back on! After ride number two, she did the same thing! She just loved it so much! Thank goodness as the trip went on, she learned that we ride and then we have to get off and do something else!

Her favorite characters that she met were Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Jake (from Jake and the Neverland Pirates). She hugged and kissed all of them. Her face absolutely lit up when she saw mickey. When her cousin was meeting him, she was actually getting jealous oh her hugging him, saying, "No, baby hug!"

Another moment I'll always remember occurred while meeting Tinkerbell. Tink asked Augusta her name and of course she proudly responded with "I baby!" Tink laughed and said "No way, you're a baby!" You can't put a price on those moments!

Another magical time was the Disney Junior Dance Party! It was amazing to see Augusta so happy and full of life! She would run up to the characters and they'd take her hand and dance with her! Big cousin Lani was there so she'd take Augusta around too and let her dance with different characters! Just seeing her beaming face and her little hands raising up in the air made my night! It was so worth the chance of getting soaked by rain we risked to be there!

I think all in all Augusta's favorite park was Magic Kingdom and her favorite ride was the teacups! She absolutely loved them! Chase rode with us so we didn't spin more than the ride required! She kept asking to ride the "pot", for Teapot. She also enjoyed dumbo. One night during extra magic hours we went back and forth between those two, just pacifying her! (We didn't enjoy it at all! ;))

Augusta's favorites of other parks: Epcot--Nemo and watching all the water fountains; Animal Kingdom--Triceratops Spin and safari ride; Hollywood Studios--Disney Junior Live on Stage and Disney Junior Dance Party; Magic Kingdom--Teacups, Dumbo, Ariel ride, and the carousel! She loved meeting characters wherever she could, and also found a new fascination with escalators!

To anyone who's weary of taking them this young--I say go for it! I believe it was an ideal age to go, and my almost 22 month old still talks about it daily--without my bringing it up! Perks of going at this age--free admission to Disney, free on airplane (under 2), amazement by all things new and colorful, love of characters, easy to keep a watch on in stroller, plenty of rides you'll both enjoy, and able to nap and rest with! (Daily naps were essential to us! Without them we wouldn't be able to hit the next park and go until nearly bedtime!)

I cannot wait to go back, and next time experience the magic all over with Augusta and through new eyes with baby #2! Every time Augusta asks to go to Mickey's House (what we called it in preparation for our trip) I wanna load up and take her!! Maybe summer 2015?? Just gonna have to get Chase on board! ;)
