Easter 2012

Well Augusta's first Easter has come and gone, but I have to say it was a great one. And I think she would agree with me on that!

We woke up and gave the baby girl her Easter basket. She was so sweet reaching in for her little bunny rabbit. She also enjoyed playing with her eggs.

Then after an uplifting church services with our families, we had a little downtime before the first Easter gathering. So of course, my loves took a nap! We also snapped some pics bc Miss Augusta Kate was looking exceptionally gorgeous in her Easter best and Mommy had to document!

Then it was off for a get together with some of Chase's family. We had a great Easter lunch, and enjoyed everyone's company. We even had a egg hunt for the kiddies, but Augusta was too tired to participate. I think seeing everyone wore the baby out bc she had a good afternoon nap when she finally went down. I hate she missed hunting eggs on her first Easter, but hey, next year she'll actually know what's going on and get to have fun with it so no worries. I'll take the snuggle time while I can get it!

After that it was back home for a little more rest before we went out to my parents' house for dinner. It was fun having most of the family together, but we did miss Aunt Lys! No more being away on holidays! Deal?

The best part of Easter was being able to thank our Lord for sending his son to suffer and die for us. What a gift it truly is that he has forgiven us for all our faults. I cannot wait till Augusta is a little older and we can really share the great message of Easter with her, and have her begin to understand what a blessed God we serve!

Four Months Old

Who can believe its been four months since this little blessing entered our lives?!? I surely can't. People always say time flies, well you never really know the meaning of that expression until you become a parent. Trust me, it takes on a whole new meaning! So happy four months to my sweet, sweet Augusta Kate! There is nothing better than waking up to your beautiful smiling face, Lovie!

This past month has been a big one for Augusta. She started laughing! It is the most precious sound you can imagine! I love it when she giggles and throws in some squeals, makes everything so worth it! My big girl is now also able to roll over! Yesterday was the first time she did it, but it won't be the last! Only more movement to come from this wiggle worm! She was Reaching for things last month, but now shes really grabbing them. And they go straight to her mouth! She's also started staying awake longer during the day, and sleeping longer stretches at night!

She's still loving being outside, and especially strolling around. She's also decided she's not completely into her paci. It's a love/hate relationship! Ha! She is very into her Sophie the Giraffe though, and also being read or sang to. But her favorite things are her hands! They are in her mouth constantly...guess they must taste pretty yummy!

Popping in just to give a quick weekend update! After Spring Break, the little time we got off for the weekend was much needed...even I'd it was far too short! As I previously posted I went to see the Hunger Games on Friday, which was fabulous. I wouldn't mind going again...if Chase gets a free moment and wants to go that is!

Saturday I enjoyed a relaxing day at home with my sweet baby girl! We just laid around pretty much all day and it was fabulous. I love the times I just get to snuggle with her and we can just stay like that as long as we like. It's almost as if I get to hit "pause" on time for just a few moments and enjoy her just the way she is in this stage. She's growing and changing so fast, I know I need to take in all the quiet times like this that the Lord gives us! After Chase got done with baseball we did go out to dinner with some friends. We even got to take Lani along which was great bc she has been begging us to take her to eat Hibachi for awhile now.

Sunday was a great day as well. It was a full family day, and though we were all worn our at the end of it, it was well worth it! We went over to Mims and Paul-Paul's house for lunch. She had made a spread of veggies which were so yummy! Can't go wrong with black eyed peas and green beans! After lunch we just hung around and did family things. Augusta got to enjoy her grandparents and I got to spend some much needed time with Lani. Since I've been pregnant and had Augusta, I feel like I haven't been able to devote as much time to my niece, so it was nice to be able to do so. She is such an amazing little girl, far wiser than her seven years...I could just sit and simply talk to her for hours! But we also went outside and enjoyed the beautiful day. I wish I had taken a picture of the chalk mural we made. (If I was a better blogger I would have) But it was an Easter scene...bunny, eggs, chicks, basket, kids--you get the idea.

Later for dinner, we went out to visit Gammie and Grampy. (This is what we refer to him as, though his technical grandpa name is still unagreed upon...guess we'll just wait and see what Augusta calls him) ;) Also aunt Lys and Aunt T were there as well. We had a yummy meal and just enjoyed being together. And they enjoyed seeing little miss and passing her around.

Now it's back to the work week...At least it's Wednesday! Is it bad I'm already waiting for Saturday so I can sleep past 5 am?!?

Happy Hunger Games

Guess what movie came out this weekend??? That's right, The Hunger Games!!! Its only one of the most buzzed about movies this year! And if you couldn't guess it from the post title, well I feel sorry for you. ;)

My sweet Momma stayed late and kept Augusta for me so I could go with my sister and Becca! We were so excited! We have both already read the books and could not wait for the movie adaptation. And since this whole obsession started when I gifted Alyssa the box set of books last Christmas, I knew it was only fitting we attended together. Even if we are on opposite sides of the trilogy's love triangle! Team Gale FTW!

And I am now beyond thrilled to report that the movie was wonderful!!! Of course the book is still better, because honestly, what movie can live up to its counterpart book? But it was really good. Things they had to leave out were not so major, and you also saw more of the behind-the-scenes of the games with the gamemakers and the president which gave some interesting insight. The only thing I wish they would of included was more of Katniss and Gale's relationship. Going strictly from the movie, it doesn't look like there is a love triangle going on at all. I don't think those going in who haven't read the book "get" the Katniss/Gale relationship. They don't understand the crush she's had on him for so long, and how she doesn't think he'd ever see her in that way. And we didn't get the moment where Gale almost tell her he loves her before the games! That was disappointing! But maybe they'll touch more on the triangle in the second movie!

And there better be a second movie! And a third for that matter! So go out and see the Hunger Games! What are you waiting for?!?

Spring Break Pt. 2

So Spring Break is basically over and let me say it went way too fast. And it was basically just a tease for summer! Only about 8 more weeks!

I am do thankful that we had beautiful weather over the break! That's not usually the norm here, and it was fab! We got to spend lots of time outdoors, which was great! Baby girl loves her outside time!

We also had more baseball to watch! Again Augusta was so good at the games. And she didn't get any attention at all...sarcasm people! Of course she stole the show!

Chase and I also had our first date night since baby girl was born. It was so nice, and much needed! After his busy baseball week, I felt it was the first time we'd had a conversation all week! And thanks to Mims and Paul-Paul for keeping Lovie!

I also got three new books that I cannot wait to read. At the rate I'm reading this year (Hello two books finished in 2012) they'll prob keep me occupied through summer! Ha! I actually started "The Fault in our Stars" today. It is about a girl living with cancer and it's gotten rave reviews...including ones from Jodi Picoult (one of my fave authors) and Julie Plec (one of the writers of the Vampire Diaries series). I'll keep you posted in how it goes. Though, like I said, it may take awhile.

And now we arrive at Sunday, the last day of the break. It's actually been a good one. And I haven't gotten that "I'm-dreading-going-back-to-work" feeling. At least not bad! ;) But we went to church this morning, and then had lunch at Chase's parents' house. And my mom and youngest sister came to lunch too, so there was extra family to fellowship with! Random Post

Lately I've become so inpatient. Maybe it's my lifestyle, but I think a lot of it is just me. Like I don't want to wait for food to cook, I want something I can grab and go. I don't want to take the time to dry my hair. I don't like to watch live tv because of the commercials. And I really don't like having to wait months for new tv episodes!

I mean, why do shows need to take a several week break in the middle of the spring? I understand the summer hiatus...but this spring break thing! Some of us are really wanting to know what's going on with that cliffhanger/bomb you dropped in the last eppy! (Revenge, I'm talking to you!) Thank goodness my Thursday shows came back this past week, giving me a little relief! But to you others...hurry back, we miss you!

Spring Break Pt. 1

So I'm a little annoyed as I type this post...mainly because I've already written it once! I guess technology, yes I Blame technology, decided not to save my draft the first time, so here we are again!

On a happier note, I have so been enjoying the break so far! I'm loving my time off, and spending that time with sweet Augusta is just the best. (I'm snuggling with her while I write actually.) And she's so close to rolling completely over! I hope it happens this week because I don't want to miss the first time she does it, but only time will tell.

The only thing that would make this break better, besides of it was longer, would be getting to see Chase more. He's do busy with baseball that we haven't seen as much of him as either of us would like, but we have been to watch some games and hang out with him while we could.

So far we've been to 3 games over the break, and Augusta has done great! I am so blessed to have an easy baby! I think she's enjoyed being outside and I know everyone has enjoyed seeing her there!

We've also been running around visiting with friends. We went to see Olivia and meet baby Madden on Monday. He is beyond adorable and made me miss Augusta being that little! But I'm not ready to go back to that stage just yet. ;) I also took her to meet Lacey at the beauty shop who does both mine and Chase's hair. All the women there were eating her up, and she just loved it. I think we definitely have a little ham on our hands!

Now we're just waiting for Gammie to get here so we can run to Pontotoc and do a little shopping. I have some gift cards I need to spend and everyone at work keeps telling me to check out the cute shops over there, so why not while I have some free time! Hope the rest of the break doesn't go too fast...I'll be back to let you know how it does go though!
